One-Stop English Primary 3

One-Stop English is written with a view tosupplement the teaching of English

language in Singapore schools today,particularly in the light of recently announced

changes

With emphasis on reading and writing, thisseries ponders students with ample

opportunities to read, comprehend and writeso that English language learning

becomes a more wholesome experience.

Each unit begins with a Reading andComprehension passage. These passages

have been written to follow closely thethemes in major reading texts used in the

new English programmer. Also, difficultvocabulary words are highlighted in each

passage with meanings given,

These passages are followed by challengingexercises relevant to the new mode

of learning the language to ensure thatstudents get enough practice to refine

their grasp of the language as early aspossible,

While at some parts, the students areencouraged to refer to aids like dictionaries

and guides, for the most part, both grammarand vocabulary items tested are

drawn from the Reading and Comprehensionpassages. This makes learning the

language a more meaningful experience. Asgrammar items tested are based on

the passages, one can expect to learn firstabout adverbs instead of adjectives for

instance. However, all grammar items asindicated in the prescribed syllabus from

the Ministry of Education will be covered
